415/554-2507 Mental Health Services Act Task Force and Sub-Committee Meetings
Scheduled Public Encouraged to Attend San Francisco, CA— On November 2, 2004 the voters of California passed
Proposition 63, the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). The MHSA has the
potential to fundamentally change access to, and delivery of mental
health services throughout California. An unprecedented 74% of San
Franciscans voted in support of this ballot initiative. More than any
other County. The public's input is sought to assist in the development of San
Francisco's 3-year plan for utilizing MHSA funds to expand and transform
our mental health system. The public is invited to participate in eleven population-based
sub-committees beginning April 4th. Sub-committee meetings will be held
at the Bill Graham Auditorium (Schedule attached) to gather information
and develop recommendations for San Francisco's plan to the State. The Behavioral Health Innovations Task Force, appointed by Mayor Gavin
Newsom to prioritize San Francisco’s behavioral health needs, will begin
meeting April 14th , 4 p.m.- 6 p.m. The first meeting will be held at
the Chinese Recreation Center, Mason and Washington. Subsequent meetings
are scheduled twice each month through July in various locations
throughout the City. The public is invited to observe the proceedings
and a public comment period will be provided during the last 30 minutes
