Special Programs for Youth

Description of Services:

Special Programs for Youth provides health care services specifically designed for youth at four locations.

At the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center we provide 24-hour medical and 12- hour mental health care seven days a week. Dental care is offered 20 hours per week. Individual and small group counseling/health education, HIV antibody testing and follow-up are available. Each youth undergoes a comprehensive assessment to identify health conditions for treatment and follow-up while at YGC.

At Log Cabin Ranch Juvenile Correction Center located in La Honda, CA we provide medical care five days a week. Mental health services, including individual and small group counseling and health education, are provided three days a week. Confidential HIV antibody testing and follow-up and a teen fathers program are also available.

At Cole Street Clinic we operate an adolescent health clinic which delivers comprehensive care to youth ages 12-21 and youth up to age 24 who are HIV positive. Services provided are primary medical care including family planning, pregnancy testing, choice counseling, sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment, acute and episodic care, management of chronic health problems, and HIV testing. Our case management/psycho social services component provide crisis intervention, short and long-term case management, and therapy. These services include intake, assessment, individual counseling, treatment planning, pregnancy and choice counseling, food and transportation vouchers, and referral to outside services. Our peer-base prevention/education services component provides wellness education, health education, health promotion activities, and life skills training.

At Larkin Street Clinic we provide comprehensive medical care five days per week for youth ages 12-21. Services include primary medical care, complete physical exams, women's health (including family planning and pregnancy exams), STD assessment and treatment, tuberculosis screenings and immunizations, HIV testing and HIV treatment services for youth up to age 24, and medical outreach and referral.
