WHEREAS, the San Francisco Department of Public Health is committed to promoting the health of all San Franciscans; and,
WHEREAS, nationally and locally there persists the threat of natural disasters and disasters resulting from human actions that affect the health and well being of all people everywhere; and,
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Department of Public Health is committed to addressing potential disasters through prevention, preparedness and response; and,
WHEREAS, the first week of April is celebrated as “National Public Health Week” in 21 states including California; and,
WHEREAS, the focus of 2006 San Francisco Public Health Week is “Lessons Learned from the 1906 Earthquake and Fire”; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that the Health Commission recognizes the San Francisco Department of Public Health’s work addressing disaster preparedness and response and its commitment to ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all San Franciscans and celebrates those efforts during National Public Health Week, April 3 – 9, 2006.
I hereby certify that the Health Commission at its meeting of April 4, 2006, adopted the foregoing resolution.
