Birth Center: Other Resources

The birth center uses a holistic approach when caring for mothers and their families. We are aware there may be other needs that accompany the birth experience.

  • Our mothers have access to social workers, public health nurses, and psychiatric services if necessary.
  • Each of our moms receives one home visit from the county public health nurse.

As a part of a major metropolitan hospital our patients have access to:

  • Tuberculosis services
  • Women Infants and Children program (WIC)
  • HIV BAPAC (Bay Area Perinatal AIDS Center)
  • Ophthalmology services
  • Medical clinics.

All of these services are on the hospitals' campus.

Please call 9-1-1 if this is a medical emergency. Please call Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center at (628) 206-8000 for general information.

For issues or questions other than medically related, you may email the Department of Public Health.
