RFP 19-2019 The San Francisco Department of Public Health’s (SFDPH), Behavioral Health Services (BHS) is soliciting proposals from interested contractors to provide Supplemental Security Income (SSI) linked Medi-Cal Advocacy Services. SSI, or Supplemental Security Income, is a federal program that provides monthly cash payments and Medi-Cal to people in need. SSI is for people who are 65 or older, as well as for blind or disabled people of any age, including children.
The goal of this project is to provide SSI linked Medi-Cal advocacy at the application, reconsideration and appeals stage, as well as assistance on post-entitlement issues that threaten continued receipt of benefits, to DPH clients who are homeless and disabled, and to provide consultation, technical assistance and education services to referring agencies on SSI-related issues.
The types and general distribution of services to be provided include 100% Direct Client Services (25% legal representation and 75% SSI advocacy).
