The San Francisco Chinese Project is a project of Nutrition Services, Chinatown Public Health Center and funded by the USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program through the Network for a Healthy California to empower the low-income Chinese community in San Francisco to improve their nutritional and physical well-being and thus reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
Activities of the project include community nutrition education, media outreach, local coalition building, collaborating with community partners and provider training. The three key objectives include:
1. Promote daily intake of fruits and vegetables according to the latest Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommendations
2. Promote daily physical activity for a minimum of 30-60 minutes (for adults and children, respectively)
3. Encourage participation in federal food assistance programs for qualifying participants
