Massage Program Operating & Facility Requirements

All massage businesses shall comply with the following operating requirements:

 

Establishments

• Every establishment operator/owner must possess a Massage Establishment, Sole Practitioner Massage Establishment, or Outcall Massage Service permit issued by DPH (29.25(a)).

• Massage establishments can only operate between 8am and 10pm.

• Restrooms and hand washing facilities, with adequately supplied materials, must be provided (29.27(a)(b)).

• Adequate lighting of at least 108 lux (10 foot candles) shall be provided (29.27(c)).

• The establishment shall not be used for residential purposes and shall not have excessive personal items within (29.31(j)).

• Read through Article 29 as it pertains to the establishment operator/owner.

 

Practitioners

• Every practitioner must possess either a DPH license or CAMTC certificate to practice massage (29.31(e)).

• Every practitioner must have on their persons a copy of the license or certificate (29.15).

• Private contractors at an establishment must possess a Business Registration Account through the Treasurer & Tax Collector

• All practitioners shall remain fully clothed and shall not wear transparent, see-through, or substantially exposing attire (29.17(a)).

• Read through Article 29 as it pertains to the establishment massage practitioner.

 

Equipment and Massage rooms

• Exterior doors shall remained unlocked while the Massage Establishment is open (29.31(g)).

• Interior doors to massage rooms cannot be equipped with locks (29.31(g)).

• Alcoholic beverages and drugs may not be stored, consumed or brought into the establishment (29.31(h)).
