San Francisco's Flavored Tobacco Ban went into effect on July 21, 2018.

 

 

Steps to Determine if a Tobacco Product is Flavored

1. Read the package. Tobacco products with the words "unflavored" or "unsweetened" may be sold in San Francisco.

Flavored tobacco products include, but are not limited to, any of the following descriptive words listed on the packaging. These may not be sold in San Francisco:

  • Alcohol Beverage Flavors
  • Candy
  • Chocolate
  • Clove
  • Cocoa
  • Dessert
  • Fruit Flavors
  • Herb
  • Honey
  • Menthol
  • Mint
  • Spice
  • Sweet/Sweetened
  • Vanilla
  • Wintergreen

2. If you still have a question concerning a tobacco product, please contact SF 311 or call (415) 701-2311, and provide the following:

  • Your Name
  • Your Phone Number & Email
  • Your Business Name and Address
  • The Product Brand and Product Name

If you would like to make a complaint regarding the illegal sale of tobacco to minors or a related tobacco sales complaint, call 311.
