Solid Waste Program
The Solid Waste Program regulates refuse collection and solid waste sites to protect public health, safety and well-being of our communities and environment from the impacts of solid waste management and disposal.
Public Notices
All public notices for the solid waste program may now be found on sf.gov. This includes the notice of refuse collection route permit application opportunity for Treasure Island, posted on May 1, 2023 (and updated on May 18, 2023), and all other materials related to that application opportunity.
Refuse Collection License and Permit
Prior to finalizing the Refuse Regulation, SFDPH considered public comments on the draft rules that were submitted during the comment period ending on December 29, 2021. On February 15, 2022, the Health Commission adopted the
2022 Refuse Collection Regulations which outline the procedures to license refuse collectors and permit certain designated refuse collection routes in the City and County of San Francisco. Please visit the Refuse Collection page for more information on obtaining a Refuse Collection License and Permit.
