Traffic Safety Advisory Council

In November 2000, DPH recruited community advocates to join the Pedestrian Safety Advisory Council to work on pedestrian safety and provide them with data and technical assistance. At the first meeting, 25 community members, advocates, and representatives from City departments attended.

The Council grew to an organization of 70 members, including approximately 25 active members. The Council changed its name to Traffic Safety Advisory Council in 2003 to reflect the role that all pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers play in traffic safety. The Traffic Safety Advisory Council stopped meeting on a regular basis, beginning in January 2004.
