Healthy Food Pantry

Southeast Health Center (SEHC) is located in the Bayview Hunter’s Point area, one of the most isolated and underserved parts of San Francisco. The community faces a high unemployment rate, has a high concentration of families living below the poverty line as well as a large and growing homeless population. Housing conditions for many Bayview residents is substandard.  In addition to these challenges, the community’s residents have poor access to affordable, fresh, and healthy foods. In part, this has contributed to the fast growing problems of obesity and diabetes in the area.

Our Healthy Food Pantry program adds another option for our community’s individuals and families to obtain food. Thanks to food supplied by the San Francisco Food Bank, we can provide healthy foods – mainly fruits, vegetables, grains, and other dry goods – to community residents. As part of our pantry program, we also provide an exciting nutrition education program where residents can learn how to prepare meals using the fresh foods they will receive at the pantry.
